Trading as Silva’s Sandwich & Grill Bar, the Birri family had owned and run the popular café for over 20 years – serving up food and drinks to many of the visitors who wander down Shaftesbury Avenue to explore the theatres and the lights.
After running the business for more than two decades, the family was looking forward to their well-deserved retirement before the disruption of the coronavirus pandemic threatened to derail the sale.
Assisting CDG Leisure, agents for our mutual clients, SO Legal directors Seema Anant and Hamed Ovaisi were able to manage the process during the lockdown period, ensuring the transaction completed with a foreign-based landlord in Singapore and a buyer operating during the COVID pandemic – successfully completing a deal which had at one stage had looked impossible.
Thanking the teams at SO Legal and CDG Leisure, Sandra Birri said:
“Professionalism, consistency, communication and always being there for us comes to mind. Thank you again for making the sale go through.”
Hamed Ovaisi, director at SO Legal said:
“We’re delighted to have been able to help the Birris complete this complex sale during the height of the lockdown. We wish them all the best in their well-deserved retirement.”
Morris Greenburg of CDG Leisure added:
“This deal stresses the importance of a good innovative solicitor working well with the client’s agent so that difficult transactions such as this one end up being successfully completed.”
